Pupils
Sports and Clubs
As shown by our Kitemark Award, the children at St Clements have the opportunity to compete in a wide variety of fun and competitive individual and team sports. Congratulations to all of our sports men and women on receiving the SILVER KITEMARK AWARD!
PE in the New Curriculum
We are developing our PE curriculum to offer the widest range of opportunities to children of all ages through quality teaching and opportunities to develop skills beyond individual sessions. Our professional Sports Coaches are working across key stages to implement our new varied coverage of games, dance, gym and athletics. Year 4 also swim every Wednesday at Wright Robinson.
We are developing PE assessment to support the development of children at all levels in both team and individual disciplines.
Afterschool activities
We promote sporting activities and achievement for all children, including advancing our most able children through links with local clubs. We plan our clubs to follow the annual cycle of interschool sports competitions and our own PE curriculum.
Chosen by both staff and pupils through pupil survey and our School Sports Council, the school runs a number of after-school activity clubs.
Lunchtime sports and activities
Our sports coaches are now involved in lunchtime activities, coaching a wider range of sports and games and teaching the children, especially the buddies, to lead activities and promote fair play and teamwork.
Lunchtime activities on offer include:
-Football and penalty shoot-out.
-Cricket
-Basketball
-Boogie box (dance)
-Dodge-ball
-Skipping, hoops and other play equipment.
-Climbing wall and tyres.
-Computers
-Arts and Crafts.
Sporting Events
Children have the opportunity to compete in sporting events with other schools, developing teamwork, social confidence and celebrating achievement.
Already this year we have attended swimming galas, cross-country events and competed in football tournaments. As the spring and summer approach, we look forward to many more sporting triumphs!
