Autumn Term 2025:

In Literacy we have been continuing to work on improving our sentences and adding extra ingredients to our texts to make them more exciting for our readers. This half term we have been looking at the story for Goldilocks and the Three Bears and have written a Wanted Poster, an apology letter and have imagined the ending of the story from Goldilocks’ point of view. We have just begun our new unit all about the famous space explorer, Neil Armstrong.

In Maths, we have completed our work on Place Value and have moved onto addition and subtraction. We have been developing our use of equipment such as base 10 and place value counters to look at tens and ones and begin to add and subtract 2 digit numbers.

In Science we completed our work on Animals Including Humans by looking at healthy diets and different food groups. We had fun making healthy meals in class and there were some very interesting combinations!
We have now begun our unit on Materials and their Properties and have had fun sorting materials in lots of different ways.

In History we have begun our work on Explorers with a look at the Muslim explorer Ibn Battuta who, although he lived 700 years ago, still managed to travel the equivalent of three times around the Earth! We will complete our studies with a look at Christopher Columbus and Neil Armstrong.

In Computing we have continued to use Scratch Junior to build algorithms and do simple programming. So far we have looked at how to select and change sprites, how to make them bigger and smaller and how to make them move.

In music we continued practicing songs, using instruments and performed these as a class. We are getting very well up on our musical vocabulary knowledge.

In Art we continue to look at the work of Yayoi Kusama and her work which incorporates lots of dots. We will finish this unit by making clay pots and painting them in a Kusama style.

In  RE we have been learning about the Jewish faith and its traditions. We have enjoyed learning about Shabbat and we even tasted the challah bread that is served at the Friday night meal. We have also looked at the Jewish festival of Hannukah and its similarities and differences to Christmas.

In DT we will look at different snacks around the world such as samosa and empanadas. We will taste and compare our snacks before choosing which snack to make.
